Empora Title was founded in 2020 in Columbus, Ohio by CEO Megan Harris with a clear mission: build the title experience that high-growth real estate teams actually deserve. Five years in, we're extending that work into the part of every closing we know is least defended — the notary.
Where we started
We started in title. The pitch in 2020 was straightforward: eliminate the meetings, the mountains of paperwork, and the voicemails. Replace them with one digital workspace per file. Five years and tens of thousands of files later, the title business runs in seven states — Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania — underwritten by First American, WFG, and TIAC.
What we're building now
Notaries are the part of the closing we lean on most and the part we know is least defended. Their stamp shows up on every doc; their name on every deed. When a transaction is disputed — sometimes years after closing — the notary is the first person called and usually the least equipped to defend themselves.
Empora is the platform we're building for them. Today: sign up, the protection badge, the referral leaderboard, a direct line back to the team. Coming as we ship: commission monitoring, stamp-usage detection, a mobile signing app, RON certification tracking. We're starting with the foundation and shipping the rest with the notaries who join now.
The team
Our company boasts a world-class team of title experts whose extensive knowledge ensures accurate and efficient handling of every file. We've sat in the depositions; we've seen what happens when a signing is disputed and the notary has to defend themselves alone. That's the experience we're building the notary product around.
